There had been a long conversation with cousin Gita at Jodhpur Apartments about yoga. I had been ashram-hunting and she had told me about the one she had been to. Gita also talked of gurus and meditation, of auras and mental powers. Gita was the guru guide.

She was not at home. Yashwant was.

'Have you seen Gita?' Yashwant had his back to me, his face pressed against his beloved fish tank.

'I cannot see a thing, I am virtually blind. Look, see how I have to be almost in the tank to see my lovely fish and still I cannot see the expression in their eyes. Blind, blind, I am going blind.'
